Exer Urgent Care

Huntington Hospital is proud to partner with Exer Urgent Care, an alternative to the emergency department for conditions that are serious or urgent but not life-threatening. Patients receive comprehensive medical services and the clinic is staffed by the same ER doctors who work at Huntington Hospital. We offer two convenient locations to our Huntington Hospital community, in Pasadena and La Canada Flintridge.

Exer Urgent Care and COVID-19

Exer Urgent Care is providing testing and telehealth services from their Pasadena and La Canada locations. With a referral through Exer’s VirtualCare Portal, testing kits are used to provide patient results within 1-5 days. 

In order to be tested, patients need a prescription.  Exer is offering patients an online evaluation from the comfort of their home via VirtualCare by Exer. VirtualCare, an extension of Exer’s patient access options, is an online urgent care service providing real-time access to a health care provider via video chat. Patients do not need an appointment, they can remotely login and will be connected to an Exer medical provider. From there, patients can be screened for COVID-19 by answering questions about risk factors and symptoms.

The risk assessment evaluation for COVID-19 follows local and state guidelines. Through the telemedicine visit, patients will talk through symptoms and past medical history during the virtual exam to determine whether a COVID-19 test is recommended.  If a test is recommended, a prescription and directive to report to their nearest Exer clinic will be issued.

Exer has secured a substantial number of testing kits along with a lab partner capable of processing results within five days. Testing is being offered while supplies last to those who meet the CDC-based screening criteria and anyone who is experiencing symptoms should call into VirtualCare to begin the screening process.

With new protocols in place, patients can feel safe while visiting Exer clinics. All locations have tripled disinfectant cleaning efforts, will provide masks to patients, and are adhering to self-swab practices to limit exposure of the virus. The new rigorous decontamination protocol puts patient and staff health as the top priority, in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

Exer Urgent Care accepts most PPOs, most HMOs, Medicare, and has affordable non-insurance payment options as well. Learn more about Exer VirtualCare here. Please note that the hospital does not control this channel and test result timing may vary.
