Our department of nursing at Huntington Hospital is comprised of registered nurses, clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, licensed practical nurses, licensed technicians, patient care assistants and unit secretaries. This talented group of healthcare providers practice on more than 20 specialty-based nursing units including three critical care units.
We continuously seek to develop, challenge and mentor nurses through the advancement of their practice and encourage strong partnerships. These solid and strong partnerships allowed the hospital to successfully pursue Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in 2011, and be re-designated in 2015. In addition, Huntington Hospital nurses take pride in being part of a Joint Commission certified orthopedic center of excellence as well as a certified comprehensive stroke center.
Our diverse and dynamic team of nurses is supported by a strong group of nurse leaders who encourage professional growth and foster a healthy work environment. We deliver excellent care through interdisciplinary and leadership collaboration, promoting a safe, positive, knowledgeable, creative and trusting practice environment. As vital members of the interdisciplinary team, RNs are responsible for effectively communicating information related to patient care.

Nursing Shared Decision Councils
The Shared Governance model provides an opportunity for Huntington Hospital nurses to share ideas, solve problems and makes decisions in matters that impact their work. Shared Governance also improves the lines of communication between units and other departments, resulting in better care for the patients.
The Shared Governance structure:
- Advances nursing excellence.
- Provides leadership development for RNs through involvement in decision-making about nursing practice.
- Empowers all nurses to engage by contributing to work redesign.
- Improves the quality of care to patient and families.
Clinical Nurse Recognition Program
The Clinical Nurse Recognition Program is based on Huntington Hospital’s mission and core values, and the ANCC Magnet ® Domains. The goal of the program is to recognize the professional excellence of Huntington Hospital nurses and their desire to provide the best care to our community.
Magnet Designation
Huntington Hospital is proud to be a Magnet designated hospital, one of only 26 hospitals in California, and the first in the San Gabriel Valley to have received this prestigious nursing designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Originally designated in 2011, Huntington Hospital achieved re-designation in 2015.

The ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® is viewed around the world as the ultimate seal of quality and confidence in nursing.
