Childbirth & Parenting Classes

We offer classes for expecting and new parents. These classes are taught at the Huntington Hospital located in Pasadena, California.

Perinatal Health Education

Our childbirth preparation program focuses on pregnancy through the birth of your newborn. We suggest couples take all classes to ensure comprehensive preparation for the exciting changes that are in their future.

Register for Perinatal Health Education classes online. Each individual class registration is for the expectant mother and her primary partner. If you have any questions or encounter any issues, please email: Perinatal.Edu@huntingtonhospital.com. or call 626-397-8768.

We recommend couples sign up for classes by the fifth month, and begin attending classes by the seventh month of pregnancy. All couples should complete classes one month prior to the baby's due date.

Maternity Tour

Our Maternity Tour is designed to help couples prepare for birth at Huntington Hospital. Information is provided regarding admissions process and birth services, followed by a guided tour of the labor & delivery and postpartum areas. This tour is free of charge and designed for expectant couples.

Childbirth Preparation
These 3 classes address signs of labor, when to go to the hospital, the process of labor, pain medications, cesarean birth and the role of the labor partner.

Infant Care
This 2 part series investigates bath-time, diapering, how to calm a fussy baby, recognizing signs of illness and newborn behavior.

Breastfeeding Basics
Expectant mothers and fathers learn about nursing positions, attachment, milk supply and how to know the baby is getting enough.

CPR
CPR class is for parents and caregivers of infants and children. It teaches CPR, obstructed airway procedures for infants and children and discusses safety issues.

Baby and Me
This fun class includes song-time with baby, parachute play, and bubble-time. There is group discussion on a wide variety of baby and parent related topics. The baby should be between the ages of 8 weeks and 9 months to participate in this class.

Cancellation / Refund Policy

Please contact us in writing for class cancellations. Email a cancellation request to: perinatal.edu@huntingtonhospital.com, or fax the request to: 626-397-2923.

  • We must receive your cancellation request in writing, 72 hours before a given class is scheduled to begin in order to obtain a refund. In the event that you're registered for a two-class series, the cancellation must be received 72 hours before the first class in that series.
  • If you are rescheduling, please cancel the original class selection by writing and sign up for a new class selection online.
  • Please note there is a $10.00 administrative fee for each class cancelled, rescheduled or changed to another date. No refunds are given after the date of a class.
  • If the Perinatal Health Education department cancels a class you will be notified and the full fee will be refunded.

Unfortunately we do not allow anyone to attend a class without pre-registration and pre-payment. Attending class without pre-registration and pre-payment may result in the instructor asking you to leave as there may be no space available in the class. Payment for the class is a requirement.
