Stereotactic Radiation Treatment at Huntington Hospital

On September 11, 2015, Ken Lam, MD, delivered the first treatment of stereotactic radiation therapy ever to be offered at Huntington Hospital's Cancer Center.

Stereotactic radiation therapy delivers beams of high-dose radiation to tumors, and its extreme accuracy helps minimize damage to surrounding healthy tissue. It's particularly effective when treating lung cancer. Stereotactic radiation can target tumors and lesions virtually anywhere in the body and achieves excellent results in fewer treatments than required by standard radiotherapy.

"Being able to offer this ground-breaking treatment to our patients in the comfort of our cancer center, which also provides additional benefits such as nurse navigators, symptom management and myriad support services that focus on the whole person and not just the disease is wonderful" said Dr. Lam.
