Healthyroads Fit Company AwardHealthyroads Fit Company Award® program. The Healthyroads Fit Company Award recognizes organizations nationwide that demonstrate their commitment to improving the overall health and fitness of their employees by offering exceptional employee wellness programs and benefits.

Huntington Hospital’s recognition demonstrates that improving health is not just a service the hospital provides patients, it’s a philosophy that touches every employee through a comprehensive employee wellness program called Wellness PATH. Serving more than 3,000 employees, Huntington’s Wellness PATH has led to improved health conditions and lifestyle management in approximately 80 percent of the measures that the hospital tracks through personal health assessments (PHAs) and biometric screenings.

The wellness program offers many tools and features employees can use to customize their journey to better health, including:

  • Telephone coaching
  • Company-wide health challenges
  • Web tools and trackers
  • E-coaching courses
  • Biometric screenings
  • PHAs
  • Wellness committee
  • Wellness fairs
  • Healthy cafeteria
  • On-site fitness center

“The Wellness PATH’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of Huntington employees through health education and programs that support positive lifestyle changes,” said Gina Imbrenda, director, Total Rewards and HRIS. “The name PATH, which stands for Participate Actively Toward Health, recognizes that each employee has unique needs and preferences regarding how they reach their optimal levels of health; the program allows them to choose their own path.”

Huntington Memorial Hospital’s wellness program is made available through Healthyroads Inc. a subsidiary of American Specialty Health Incorporated (ASH). ASH is one of the nation’s leading providers of employer population health programs.

“We congratulate Huntington Memorial Hospital on earning the silver Fit Company award,” said ASH CEO and Chairman George DeVries. “By encouraging employees to get healthy on their own terms, they empower them to take an active role in their wellness. This can lead to sustainable healthy lifestyle choices, which can improve employee health, productivity and retention, and ultimately reduce healthcare costs.”

The Healthyroads Fit Company Award winners were selected based on their commitment to best practices in work site wellness, unique or creative ideas that encourage a culture of health at the workplace, clarity and consistency of employee health promotion and communications, and employee participation and engagement levels in wellness initiatives. Judges included leading wellness experts from ASH and top-ranked organizations outside of ASH.
