PASADENA, CA. (January 21, 2008)--Huntington Hospital has added a new member to its board of directors, R-lene Mijares deLang, co-owner and general manager of Mijares Mexican Restaurants, Inc., one of California's oldest Hispanic-owned businesses. Mijares deLang is responsible for all corporate operations including executive, financial, operational and marketing management.
"R-lene's experience running one of the oldest and most successful businesses in Pasadena will be a valuable addition to our board," said Stephen A. Ralph, Huntington's president and CEO. "She is well-known throughout the community and understands the vital need of providing affordable, accessible health care to the citizens of Pasadena."
Prior to joining her family's restaurant business, Mijares deLang taught public elementary school for over 10 years. She also acted as a resource teacher in bilingual education.
Mijares deLang currently serves on the boards of the Pasadena Community Foundation, Villa Esperanza Services and the Christ Child Society. She is a member of the Loyola Mothers Guild, the Pasadena Art Alliance and the California Art Club. Previously, she acted as chair to the Patron Saints Foundation and served on the boards of the Mount Wilson Chapter of the Girl Scouts of America and St. Andrew's School in Pasadena. She was also a member of the Mayor's Advisory Group.
After attending UCLA, Mijares de Lang received her undergraduate degree in cultural anthropology from the University of the Americas in Pueblo, Mexico. Her post-graduate studies in education were completed at San Diego State University.
Mijares deLang currently lives in Pasadena with her husband Gordon deLang. They have one son, Derek.
