Neurosurgical Services
Two
specially equipped neurosurgical suites, neurosurgery intensive care
capabilities and a stroke unit staffed by specially trained
neurosciences and critical care nurses ensure Huntington Hospital
neurosurgical patients receive the highest level of care.
- 320 detector multi-modal CT imaging (whole-organ imaging)
- Multi-modal MRI
- Neurointerventional bi-plane
- Penumbra and MERCI clot retrieval devices
- Two dedicated state-of-the-art neurosurgical suites
Stereotactic surgery Computer
assisted image guidance systems are used for intraoperative image
guidance for both cranial and spinal neurosurgical procedures.
Intracranial, extracranial and endovascular surgical procedures Treat disorders involving blood supply to the brain and spinal cord, such as stroke or aneurysm.
Deep brain stimulation surgery (DBS)
Like a "pacemaker for the brain," a device is implanted to
suppress the electrical circuits responsible for unwanted movements
associated with Parkinson's disease, tremor and dystonia. Studies are
planned to evaluate DBS for patients with depression and
obsessive-compulsive disorder not responsive to medical therapy.
