In June, as part of Men’s Health Month, Huntington Hospital was recognized
by Heathgrades for receiving a 5-star rating for prostate removal surgery.
Huntington Hospital is one of only six hospitals in Los Angeles County
to receive this 5-star rating, out of 40 eligible hospitals.
“It is important to bring awareness to men's health issues, such
as prostate care," said Ramin Khalili, MD, urologist, Huntington
Hospital. "We are proud to be recognized by Healthgrades with the
5-star rating for prostate removal surgery. This achievement is a testament
to the compassionate and technically superb care provided by our team.”
The achievement is part of findings released in the Healthgrades 2016 Report
to the Nation. The report demonstrates how clinical performance continues
to differ dramatically between hospitals both nationally and regionally.
This variation in care has a significant impact on health outcomes. In
the report, Healthgrades compared hospitals with statistically better
than expected performance (5-stars), as a group to those statistically
worse than expected performance (1-star), as a group and found from 2012-2014,
patients having prostate removal surgery in hospitals with 5-stars have,
on average, 81% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the
hospital than if they were treated by hospitals with 1-star.
